TF1 Group, France’s leading private audiovisual group, has announced the launch of an incubator for innovative startups in the media sector. The group intends to use this program to accelerate its growth in the digital domain.
TF1 Group has understood that digital technology is a “veritable lever for growth“ and that differentiation of digital services is a strategic imperative. The media subsidiary of the Bouygues Group, TF1 hopes to use these means to recapture consumers that are slipping away.
In partnership with “Paris & Co,” the city’s economic development and innovation agency, TF1 has launched a specialized incubator for media-sector startups. The project aims to “develop new services” in this domain.
A call for applications was opened during four weeks. Selected startups will benefit from the TF1 Group’s business-specific skills for one year, in order to design and offer services allied with innovative technologies themed around new products and services for TF1, thereby providing the group with “genuine added value.”
Many of the group’s divisions will contribute their expertise to this program, including TF1 Prod (content production), MYTF1 VOD (on-demand content delivery) and TF1 Pub (advertising space broker).
Olivier Abecassis, Director of Innovation for the TF1 Group, explained his ambitions: “This approach should allow the TF1 Group to establish close partnerships with innovative, agile companies, such as startups and SMEs, notably those offering novel ideas. We believe in the virtuous exchange, a win-win proposition between the industry’s approach and the startup ecosystem, innovative and quick.”
The French channel has inaugurated, in partnership with Facebook, a 100% digital mini news program entitled “Focus.” It features a social orientation formulated to attract a young audience.
