Techmeeting, an event focusing on the topic of “Smart Transportation”, and more specifically electric vehicles, was held on 6 October on the premises of Paris Region Entreprises.
The gathering brought together 60 participants, 46 companies from Israel, the United States and Europe, including 7 Ile-de-France businesses, 5 research laboratories and more than ten major players in the smart vehicle industry.
Organised by the Paris Region Entreprises teams, its Tel Aviv office and its subsidiary in San Francisco, the daylong session featured four main highlights:
- A talk on what lies ahead for the vehicle of the future by Claude Laurgeau, a scientific consultant at Mines-ParisTech and Vedecom Institute.
- A pitch session during which 18 start-ups and innovative SMEs were invited to make 4-minute presentations before major groups located in the Paris region such as Bosch, Faurecia, Nvidia, Orange, Renault, Peugeot, Valeo and Visteon Electronics as well as experts in the field of smart transport (Inria, Advancity, Ecomotion, EIT ICT Labs, Mov’eo).
- A networking lunch
- A business convention offering the opportunity for nearly 150 appointments leading to numerous promising contacts. As Claude Laurgeau noted: “This type of B2B meeting – devoted to a given activity, between large companies and start-ups or very small enterprises, following a presentation pitch by the various partners – proved to be efficient and compelling. It nevertheless presupposes good logistics in terms of the presentation format and compliance with the allotted time, which was the case. Congratulations to the organisers for this initiative and its successful outcome”.
“I had the pleasure of participating in this event and I can say that it was beyond my expectations. Well arranged, very high quality participants indeed” added Meir Arnon, CEO Volta Nano
“Large companies are looking for innovation ; small companies are offering innovation : it’s always a good idea to help start-ups to meet the large companies. Many of the companies are potential partners for Plugsurfing”, declared Jacob Van Zonneveld , Co-Founder & Director PlugSurfing GmbH.
« This meeting was perfectly designed to facilitate business to business between companies» said Jacques Berçot, Business Development, Autotalks.
The ramp-up of smart transport systems is transforming the automotive sector. Smart transport systems, offering new benefits and new products and services to users and companies, are having a profound, lasting impact on the automotive industry. They range from automobile safety and cyber security, communication, and interactive information systems to new mobility services, car sharing, battery technologies and advanced electronically assisted steering, etc.
This is why it is important for Paris Region Entreprises to initiate encounters between innovative SMEs from the Paris region and abroad and major industry players to facilitate exchange, partnerships and their business development.
