Paris Region Business Tour

The tour kicked off with a welcome address at Paris Region Entreprises offices on Monday morning. The Paris region is Europe’s leading economic region. It is the world’s third largest concentration of Fortune 500 head offices and the number one region for developing start-ups in Western Europe. The government is also strongly supporting businesses in their R&D and innovation activities with the most generous research tax credit in Europe. The Paris Region Entreprises Agency supports the development of foreign companies and provides assistance in setting up, succeeding, growing and expanding in the Paris region.

The large French corporations, members of the Paris Club Open Innovation, realize the importance of partnering with external innovators and joined our delegation for an evening of networking on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. After each participating North American company introduced their organization in a series of 3 minute pitches, attendees were eager to meet and engage in one-on-one discussions.

Delegates pursued their tour of the Paris Region with a glimpse of higher education, research and innovation institutions. On Tuesday, delegates discovered Ecole 42, the French peer-to-peer programming school founded by French entrepreneur Xavier Niel. Before a tour of the school and interacting with several students, French universities, innovation clusters and start-up accelerators, presented their programs to the US delegation. These included Université Paris Saclay, Instituts Carnot, CEA List, Telecom Paristech, Cap Digital, Numa, and Usine IO.

Tour participants also had the opportunity to attend Paris Demo Day, organized by 50 partners, Microsoft Ventures and Le Camping, and interact with innovators, VCs and emerging French start-ups. LeWeb, the most talked-about digital conference was also on the program. Following these activities, participants energetically traveled throughout the city to meet individually with future partners and clients and follow-up on leads they generated at the beginning of the tour. After the success of this first edition, Paris Region Entreprises and PRIME look forward to welcoming even more North American companies in 2015!
